The cycle of Ratha Yatra starts from Snana Yatra, the Bath Festival, then while the chariots are prepared the Deities enjoy two weeks of private rest, before the Ratha Yatra.

When the Deities return to Sri Mandira at the end of the 10 day festival, the Sona Vesa ceremony is held in full view of the public. Jagannatha wears the "Golden Dress" and gives the last darshan before re-entering the temple.
